Naya Pakistan – A sign of Hope or disappointment?

With the introduction of the 40 second viral track by Junoon-Vital Signs and being a Pakistani music lover, I was suddenly sent back two decades back when we had quality Pakistani music to listen. Music, that defined sufism, music that defined life, music that defined a human, music that defined Pakistan. A time when indian music had not conquered and corrupted our minds with their non-sense vulgar lyrics and music videos.

It was almost instantaneous when Salman Ahmad shot this teaser online and I saw hope and disappointment at the same time. The hope was, I could finally look forward to a long awaited patriot song, that could reignite the feeling of being a Pakistani & patriotism like Vital Signs and Junoon did!

The disappointment was, it was only the veterans of the Pakistani music industry who eventually pooled back and produced something patriotic. The so called recently digitally-generated artists who think they’re so very good just because they’ve managed to get good gear in their studio, this 40 second teaser is truly a wakeup call for them that, considering the nearing to 20,000 hits in just over two days!.

I’d ask the Pakistani musicians (even those working professionally) not to target themselves as a corporate sell out, who would eventually get a deal in India! Your identity, your hope, your future is Pakistan, non other!

Those, who have no clue what I am talking about? please listen to the teaser below.

P.S.:  It would have been balistically atomic, if Rohail and Brian were in too!
